support RCC from the safety of you own yard!

Grace and peace, members and friends of the Rehoboth Congregational Church!

I want to start off by thanking you all for supporting the church during this time of social distancing.  From your participation in our virtual worship to your financial contributions to your proud display of our peace be with you signs, you have proven that our church is more than just a building.  It is a community and it is a spirit that cannot be broken.

As we continue to do church during covid, we have had to make some hard, but necessary cancelations to our church calendar to ensure everyone’s safety.  One of the events we were unable to hold was our annual yard sale, which raises approximately $2,000 for our operating budget.

The yard sale is one of our most fun and entertaining Saturdays of the summer.  We all gather in the church parking lot for the day, uncovering treasures and catching up with our friends in the community.  Kids find toys that their parents agree to buy knowing they will likely donate them back the following year.  We browse all day as people come and shop, dreaming about how items could be repurposed and then getting excited when those items are purchased.  No one will ever forget the yard sale in 2018 when an earlier-than-forecasted rain re-baptized us all as we frantically tried to bring everything inside.

While we were unable to hold a yard sale this year and make more of these fun memories, we are still in need of the funds we had anticipated it earning.  I am writing to you today in the hopes that you will consider donating to our Stay-In-Your-Own-Yard Sale Fundraising Campaign.

This is not an actual yard sale (if you have items you were hoping to donate, save them for next year!); this is a simple appeal for monetary donations that will allow you to support the church from the safety of your own yard.

It is easy to contribute – click on this link or click on the button at the bottom of the page to make a donation through PayPal.  Consider donating what you typically would spend at the yard sale.  If you were planning on contributing items to the yard sale and opted to sell them on a site like Facebook Marketplace instead, you could donate a portion of those funds.  Or come up with an amount that is meaningful to you!  Every little bit helps.

While we have not “re-opened” according to the state, the Rehoboth Congregational Church is still very much open and active, despite the fact that we cannot physically be together.  We continue to pay our staff, carry out our ministries (albeit in new ways) and maintain our building.  Your donation will help us do church despite the challenges of not being able to gather in person.

Thank you for your support.

Stay safe.  Wash your hands.  Wear a mask.

With love and angeltude,

Rev. Sarah
